Figure 1 below shows a forgiveness process model that Ann has developed and used with clients over the years. It is, however, missing details towards the central, right-hand side: what happens, over time, that helps people make the shift from negative to positive?
However, as a result of a 2018 forgiveness research project of which Ann was primary investigator,
she was able to add more detail to the forgiveness process model regarding what specific things happen, over time, to help enable the shift from negative to positive on the journey to forgiveness. See Figure 2 below.
Finally, the "Guideposts to Forgiveness" seen below aims to put into easy to grasp language what Ann's research revealed about "how" people forgive.
